Review of Charge to Committee |
- Debbie and Sonya reported that Sam Hirsh and Marge Niven are chairpersons of the Educational Effectiveness Committees (IX, XII and XIV).
- Debbie and Sonya explained the charge to the committee and Madeline suggested that we read the charge aloud in order to understand specific criteria for meeting Standard #14. Following this activity, Debbie and Sonya also explained the time line for completion of committee work.
|
- A plan of action needs to be written by committee members and submitted to Marge and Sam by November 2002;
- The final report of the committee is due in May 2003.
|
Dissemination of Information to Committee Members | A listserve has been established by the College to facilitate dissemination of information among committee members. A listserve of all Standard #14 committee members can be found at Standard14@listserve.ccp.cc.pa.us | Debbie and Sonya will communicate with committee members via the listserve and Elaine will send out minutes of the first meeting via the listserve. |
Understanding the Charge to the Committee | Committee members discussed components of the charge. Questions raised:
- How are student learning outcomes currently defined at the college?
- What are the levels to be assessed?
- How will we determine the boundaries of our work?
- How closely is our work related to Standard #7, Institutional Assessment and Standard #9, Student Support Services?
-
A discussion developed related to determination of operational definitions of program, course and curriculum levels in relation to development of educational effectiveness criteria. | All committee members will go the Middle States information on the College's web site and read Eligibility Requirements and Standards for Accreditation for Standard #14 in order to more fully understand the criteria so that we can continue our discussion at our next meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 3:30 PM in W2-7 Conference Room. |
