DATE:02/12/2003
TIME:3:30 to 5:00 PM

  1. Format for groups
    • Clarification was made regarding group work. It was agreed that the "new" groups were designed to gather the information needed to write our report. We also agreed that it would be best if the original groups, based on the four "questions" in our action plan, would use the gathered information to address their question.

  2. Group "Reports"
    • Course Documents/Syllabi - selected DAH 101 and 291, MUS 101,103, and 214, PLS 101 and 295, ENGL 098, 101, and 208, MATH 017, 118, 171, and PSYC 101 and 215 for course documents and are gathering sample syllabi. Additional documents are coming soon for the Automotive, Electronic and Art Departments. Also provided are the Guidelines for Course Development and Revision.

    • Institutional Research Reports - selected representative reports grouped into four categories: Attrition and Persistence, Institutional Effectiveness, Student Outcomes, and Survey of Student Graduates. Also provided is an article on Student Preferences for Alternative Course Delivery Options, a summary chart of College student data, which has attached and brief description of Performance Measure Definitions.

    • Interview/focus groups - received copies of questionnaires to be used in the interview and focus group sessions. Some minor editing was performed and selections were made with regards to course of action, as follows:

      1. Curriculum Coordinators: Marcia Epstein and Deb Rossi
      2. Department Heads: Emilie Harting, George McCasland, *Ruth Baker
      3. Faculty: Madeline Marcotte, Lynne Sutherland, *Mark McCormick, *Sonya Lott-Harrison
      4. Director of Institutional Research: Joan Monroe, *Elaine Tagliareni
      5. VP of Academic Affairs: Warren Berman

      *Assignment not confirmed

  3. Distribution of Material and Homework Assignment
    • One "set" of new materials was collated and distributed to one person in each of the four "question" groups. Groups should now meet and begin the process of pulling materials necessary to deal with their "question". Potential interview dates and times should be established. Rough drafts should also be started on any preliminary work that may be done.

  4. Next meeting: Tuesday, February 25, 2003
    Time: 3:30 PM
    Location: W2-5 Conference Room

    Recorder: Warren Berman
