Agenda Items Discussed:

  1. J. Fischer reported on specific data she collected regarding information literacy at the College including:

    • Need for greater access to the Library's electronic resources.
    • Number of active electronic databases that are available.
    • Faculty collaboration/professional development.

  2. R. Gorchov reviewed his summary of the responses received from the department head/curriculum coordinator survey. Responses were placed in the order of the questions asked. Results of this survey suggested that general education had a positive impact on student success and that Dimensions had no impact on the programs.

  3. The 18-credit general education core requirement was discussed along with the computer literacy requirement.

  4. The Committee reviewed a list of programs at the College that include ENGL 114, ENGL 115, and/or ENGL 116 courses to meet the oral communication skill requirement.

  5. C. Giddle reviewed the suggestions for our charge from the Characteristics of Excellence for optional analysis and evidence:

    • College Catalog
    • Mission statement
    • Program audits and course revisions
    • Program revisions

  6. Action Plan was reviewed to identify remaining tasks

  7. E. Freeny will be asked to the April 21 Committee meeting for information about courses that "transfer in" and graduation waivers for general education courses.
