La Salle University Dual Admissions Agreement

La Salle University welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to La Salle University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering the bachelor's degree program.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 45 college level credits from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, he or she is strongly encouraged to meet with a La Salle University admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia counselor to develop a course-taking strategy.
  • Complete the La Salle University admissions application within the last semester at the Community College of Philadelphia. Nursing applications are due February 1 for full time day applicants and March 1 for the Achieve (evening and weekend) program.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5. Nursing applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a science GPA of 3.0. Nutrition majors are required to possess a cumulative GPA of 2.75. (Additional requirements for nursing majors are noted below.)
  • Enroll directly to La Salle University within one year of completing an associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at La Salle University

NOTE:

  • Students who have previously been matriculated to La Salle University are not eligible for the La Salle University dual admissions program.
  • A full-time student admitted with third-year (junior) status to La Salle University will be able to complete most bachelor's degrees at La Salle University within four regular semesters provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia and completes the appropriate sequence of his/her remaining course work at La Salle University.
  • A maximum of 70 credits will transfer to La Salle University. Courses with a grade of “C” or better are transferrable towards the student’s major. Courses with grades of “D” will transfer as electives only.
  • La Salle University and Community College of Philadelphia have a core-to-core agreement. In this, La Salle University’s CORE will essentially be fulfilled by the degree requirements at Community College of Philadelphia. However, students who graduate within the designated associate’s degree program may be required to complete additional CORE “qualifiers.” For most programs, the requirement is (1) Religion and (1) Philosophy course. Some schools also require (1) Computer Science “qualifier” to be taken. These courses can be completed as part of the degree requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or must be taken at La Salle University. Please visit with a Community College of Philadelphia counselor for information about courses that would fulfill the CORE “qualifiers.”

Additional Eligibility Requirements for La Salle University’s Nursing Program

  • Applications will be reviewed in February for the full-time day program and in March for the ACHIEVE program, at which time all students must make sure that La Salle University has their most recent transcript as well as their standardized test or National League of Nursing (NLN) scores for review.
  • Expected scores should be within the average range for the overall score and at the 50th percentile of better in each individual section.
    • Students who have completed their SAT within the past three years with a combined score of 900 (critical reading and math only), with a minimum of 450 on the critical reading portion, will not have to take the NLN pre-RN entrance exam.
    • If SAT scores are not available or do not qualify, then the NLN pre-RN test will be required.
  • All applicants must also submit an official high school transcript or GED results along with two letters of recommendation. One must be academic in nature.
  • Applicants must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of review and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative and science GPA or above for the remainder of their time at Community College of Philadelphia in order to be considered for admission.
  • Students will be permitted to repeat one science course one time in order to obtain the 3.0 science GPA. Students who repeat a course or courses more than once will be automatically disqualified for admission.
  • Any student who wishes to be enrolled in La Salle University’s full-time day program must be enrolled full-time (12 credits or more each semester) at their current school for a minimum of one full year (two consecutive semesters). Students who are enrolled part-time (less than 12 credits) will only be considered for the ACHIEVE (evening and weekend) program at La Salle University.
  • All science prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the spring term prior to the intended fall start date. (i.e., spring 2015 for fall 2015 entry). Students will not be permitted to take any science courses in the summer before their fall start term.
  • The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is utilizing America DataBank for background screening and immunization tracking. The student will enroll in America DataBank when accepted into the nursing major. Any student with a positive background check will not be permitted to start the nursing major.
