Eastern University Dual Admissions Agreement

Eastern University’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS—traditional day) & Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CCGPS—evening/accelerated) welcome applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Eastern University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor’s degree program.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 30 college level credits from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, he or she is strongly encouraged to meet with an Eastern University admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia Counselor to develop a course taking strategy.
  • Complete the Eastern University admissions application at least 60 days prior to the start date and satisfy all other regular Eastern University admissions requirements.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 within an associate’s program of study (or a 3.0 in Education).
  • Enroll at Eastern University within one year of graduating from Community College of Philadelphia, not complete more than six credits after graduating and not attend another institution between graduation from Community College of Philadelphia and attendance at Eastern University.

NOTE:

  • Students who have previously been matriculated to Eastern University are not eligible for the Eastern University dual admissions program.
  • Students can transfer up to 89 credits. Only courses with a grade of “C” or better are transferrable towards the student’s major and a grade of “C” is required to fulfill the written communication requirement. Courses with grades lower than “C” will transfer as electives.
  • A full-time student admitted with third year (junior) status to Eastern University will be able to complete most Bachelor's degrees at Eastern University within four regular semesters provided the student completes the appropriate Associate Degree program at Community College of Philadelphia and completes the appropriate sequence of his/her remaining course work at Eastern University. Spring semester entry to Eastern University may affect the normal sequence of courses in a degree program.
  • Eastern University agrees to accept the general education courses embedded in the Community College of Philadelphia A.A. and A.S. degrees toward the fulfillment of many of its undergraduate general education requirements. Given the larger number of general education courses required for the bachelor degree at Eastern University, most students will have remaining general education courses to fulfill after transferring to Eastern University, particularly those related to the Christian faith and mission offered only at Eastern University.

Advantages of the Dual Admissions program

Students who participate in Dual Admissions are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Application fee to Eastern University will be waived.
  • Eastern University scholarships for dual admissions students who enroll full-time (12 or more credits) or tuition discounts for part-time enrollment with a 2.0 or higher GPA.
  • Informational meetings with Eastern University staff at Community College of Philadelphia campus/regional centers for assistance in matriculating to Eastern University.
