The Community College of Philadelphia Foundation supports the College by raising funds for special projects and initiatives, such as the College’s first capital campaign, which is now underway. The Expanding Possibilities Campaign seeks to raise public and private dollars for projects that will support the College’s capital expansion projects at the Main Campus and the Northeast Regional Center.
The Foundation is committed to raising $10 million toward the $85 million total—$7 million for construction and $3 million for scholarships and other academic initiatives.
In July, the College was awarded a highly coveted challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation, an organization that is known for its strict standards and commitment to building institutional capacity. Lauded as a national cornerstone of charitable giving, the foundation is widely respected for funding transformative projects. Since it was established in 1924, it has supported the growth of the nonprofit sector and, specifically, capital campaigns.
Although the Foundation’s request was for $1 million in support of the College’s Expanding Possibilities Campaign, The Kresge Foundation awarded us a challenge grant of $1.2 million—the largest gift ever to a community college. To receive the $1.2 million, the College must raise an additional $2.1 million in private funds by June 30, 2011. It is a challenge we can meet together.
We hope you will join us in meeting this challenge. To join the Expanding Possibilities: Campaign for Community College of Philadelphia, please visit the campaign Web site. You can access the Web site through the College’s home page at www.ccp.edu.
