Community College of Philadelphia to Bestow Leadership Awards on Community and Business Leaders

PHILADELPHIA, May2, 2011—Community College of Philadelphia’s three Regional Centers will give distinguished leadership awards to 18 community, political, student, education, faith and business luminaries at 8 a.m. on May 3, 4 and 5. The awards will be given to individuals who have demonstrated achievement and outstanding commitment to the College and their community.

The Northeast Regional Center will hold its award ceremony at 8 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, at 12901 Townsend Rd.

The Northwest Regional Center will hold its award ceremony at 8 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, at 1300 W. Godfrey Ave.

The West Regional Center will hold its ceremony at 8 a.m., Thursday, May 5, at 4725 Chestnut St.

The following is a list of this year’s awardees for each of the Regional Centers:

    Northeast Regional Center

  • Business – Collette C. McBratney, President, CCM Training Company
  • Education – Kathy P. Murphy, Principal, George Washington High School
  • Elected Official – The Honorable Seamus P. McCaffery, Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
  • Faith-Based – Barry Stucker, First Vice President, Temple Beth Ami Synagogue
  • Community Service – Steve Teplitz, Adjunct Instructor, Community College of Philadelphia
  • Youth – Joshua Marcu, Student, George Washington High School

    Northwest Regional Center

  • Business – James H. Foster, Publisher, Germantown Newspapers Inc.
  • Education – Thomasennia Amos, Director, College Access Program, Philadelphia Education Fund
  • Elected Official – The Honorable Maria D. Quiñones-Sánchez, Councilwoman, 7th Councilmanic District
  • Faith-Based – Reverend Dr. Andrew L. Foster III, Senior Pastor, Janes Memorial United Methodist Church
