The Natural Gas and Oil Technology Certificate is designed to prepare students for entry level positions in the Natural Gas and Oil industry. Students who complete this program will develop an understanding of natural gas composition and properties, exploration and production processes, natural gas handling, regulatory agencies that govern the industry, and the electro-mechanical skills needed to obtain a field position in the industry. Students will engage in classroom and laboratory activities that will develop the basic technical, interpersonal, and teamwork skills necessary to obtain a position within the various industry sectors. In addition, students will be required to participate in field activities that supplement the learning process.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Natural Gas Technology program may accept positions such as: Electric/Electronics Installer, Field Maintenance, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Water Management Technician, Measurement and Regulation Technician, Field Safety Representatives, Seismic Crew Member; Hydraulic Fracturing Crew Member, Casing Crew Member, Drilling Crew Member, Service Team Member, Boring Team Member, Logging Crew Member, Compressor Operator, Processing Operators, and Well Testing Technicians.

Competency Profile
Thorough the Natural Gas and Oil Technology Certificate you will:

Learn the properties and behavior of natural gas in the Shale plays as well as traditional natural gas reservoirs
Develop the essential technical skills necessary to secure a job in the natural gas and oil industry.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot basic mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Develop an understanding of safety as a culture and practice and its critical relationship to oil and gas
Identify the regulatory agencies that govern oil and gas industry activities.
Explore key sectors that comprise the oil and gas industry: Exploration, Drilling, Production, Midstream, Transportation,
    Storage, and Distribution.
Utilize technology to maintain and troubleshoot various industry systems.
Utilize personal and interpersonal skills as a team member.

This course can be completed in 12-15 weeks of study. Part-time students can complete the course in two 15 week semesters
