Pennsylvania’s community colleges are offering brief courses to train unemployed and underemployed workers for the new jobs that are in demand now. Some courses can be completed as quickly as a few weeks to several months. Through a federal grant, community colleges have developed quick course programs that lead straight to the “jobs of today” in Energy, Advanced Manufacturing and Health Information Systems Technology.

Geothermal Heat Pump Technician I Specialized Diploma ProgramParticipants will gain an understanding of the mechanical and electrical installation and repair practices commonly used in the HVAC industry. This specialized diploma program combines hands-on training experiences with practical classroom knowledge to enable students to rapidly learn modern, high demand geothermal air conditioning and heating installation and maintenance skills. This program is ideal for: Individuals seeking to enter a career in the HVAC industry Commercial/residential maintenance technicians seeking to upgrade their heat pump systems knowledge Mechanically inclined individuals seeking new skills and knowledge Mechanical contractors and equipment repair technicians Facilities personnel wishing to cross-train and broaden their versatility |

Getting Started:Sign up for an information session in October or December to begin enrollment for the Spring semester. Prospective students are given a 45-minute tour of the facilities and are given time to speak with program support staff and PA CareerLink specialists prior to enrolling.
